Two listings for the same model can describe different purchases. An engine version, missing documents, distant collection or unclear history changes the comparison. After an Otomoto or mobile.de alert, use a short set of data so your first seller conversation starts with specific questions.

Check that the cars are comparable first

Compare the same model and generation, then check engine, gearbox, body, year and mileage. Similar listing titles are not enough. Open the complete offers: important details may appear in the description rather than the notification summary.

Record any difference affecting your intended use or resale plan in a separate column. Do not guess the value of missing equipment. Mark missing information as a question for the seller. A cheaper example should not automatically win simply because its description is shorter.

A short offer comparison worksheet

Gather the information needed for history checks

The basic vehicle search details for Poland’s Vehicle History service are registration number, VIN and first registration date. Available information depends on the records in the service. Checking entries does not replace assessment of the vehicle’s actual condition. The official Gov.pl source below explains current access and instructions.

Also ask for information that will help prepare a viewing: service history, known repairs and photos of reported damage. Record what is supported by documents, what is a seller statement and what remains unknown. This is more useful than a general description such as “well maintained”.

Questions for the first call

  • Is the listing current and is the car available for inspection?
  • Can the seller confirm the version, mileage and condition information?
  • What repairs, damage or problems are known?
  • Which sale and history documents will you receive?
  • Can you arrange an inspection and test drive, and when?

Update your worksheet after the conversation instead of relying on memory. If an answer changes cost or collection arrangements, compare all candidates again. You do not need to inspect every car meeting your filters; the call establishes which offers deserve more time.

Use a consistent budget for Polish and German offers

Record the listing price separately from your own estimate of travel, collection, preparation and document costs. For offers in different currencies, use the same exchange-rate assumption for all candidates and record its date. Check current official requirements for the taxes and documents relevant to your particular purchase before deciding.

Use a fast alert to build a shortlist

ADAC recommends inspecting a used car and taking a test drive before purchase. Treat an alert as the start of checking: the source listing, comparison worksheet, seller conversation and viewing. When you repeatedly reject cars for the same reason, revisit your filter settings and adjust that requirement.
